Notarial law on financing
and credit operations

The Notary Firm traditionally assists foreign banks, lawyers and accountants with the credit financing of property of foreign residents or of international or French legal entities, in France, when the underlying subject of the transaction is a building in France. Notarial law on the financing of businesses and individuals is innovative in that it is a mix of several sources: contract law, banking law, law on security, land registration, notarial professional law, private international law and civil enforcement procedures. Given the number of credit operations documented by our Notary Firm, we have developed specific expertise in all stages of property lending. Obtaining a loan, its repayment, renegotiation, non-payment, selecting the appropriate security, the enforcement of security rights, business difficulties and excessive debt are all stages that may mark the term of a credit agreement, and which should be planned for in advance.

Property and inheritance

Buying or selling property in France is a complex operation, particularly if you live abroad and are already subject to a different civil and tax regime. Looking beyond a one-off purchase, the aim is to build up assets, manage them and transfer them, under appropriate conditions. Inheritance issues and issues relating to the sale of property and assets are therefore linked and legal or tax decisions made at the time of a purchase impact freedom of choice and inheritance opportunities in the future, in case of resale or succession.
